Making cheese might seem daunting but once you do this class you will be ready to make your own at home easy peasy! This is a cheese making cooking class. Often cheese making is a multi day process (especially if you have to milk the animal) but here, Jan Southers, co-owner, shepherdess, and egg-lady at Hope Springs Farm in Madison Co. GA, will be prepping every step. This will allow you to get your hands on every step, from adding rennet to make the milk separate into curd and whey, to draining the whey from the curd and to mixing spices into your chevre.
From Jan: "In order to have all the steps represented in the class, I make cheese a couple of days before the class to show the final stage, I set up a batch the night before the workshop, so we have the second day stage complete, and we do the first stage during the class. This means we end up with three batches of cheese."
We need a minimum of 6 students so tell your friends and make it a ladies afternoon!
Everyone gets to take home a half pound of cheese.
Each student also gets a handout with directions, recipes and sources for more info.
$25/member and $35/guests. The class is about 3 hours long
